Corner to Corner, Day 52: Easingwold to York

https://www.cycling4charity.org.uk Glad of a short ride today after yesterday's 20 mile dash and tomorrow's 60+ Komoot created a 2 mile shorter route on B and unclassified roads via Sutton-on-the-Forest; I chose NCN Route 65 as our route. Wikipedia's entry for NCN Route 65 and OS maps indicate the route south can go through Beningbrough Park seeing the Georgian Beningbrough House from Newton-on-Ouse, rejoining public roads at Beningbrough Lane. One of our gracious Warmshowers' hosts was in anyway. I cleaned and serviced my bike then went into York; Lorraine chose the other way round. My visit into the Minster was in time for evensong, before returning to a surprise birthday dinner Lorraine had been planning with our hosts.

4* The George Hotel, Easingwold. Booking for this evening had taken a while; I am glad for this happy result. Searches suggest it is in one of Easingwold's younger town centre buildings: no mention in local histories, Historic England's website or BHO: British History Online.

The weekly market is on Fridays. To the right on our route and for motorists, just off the A19: The Sidings hotel, Mediterranean restaurant and bar. Started in 1985 by a former railwayman. Built with 5 "Pullman style" carriages, next to the East Coast Main Line track, which diners can view. https://thesidingshotel.co.uk

South east corner of York Minster – between Deangate (south) and College Street (east). Cleaned my bike before going into York. The Minster was closed to sight-seeing by the time I had walked counter-clockwise around the perimeter. Going counter-clockwise round the minster: view from Minster Yard, looking south west towards the centre. Octagonal building is the Chapter House, its original function being a meeting place for the day-to-day running of the minster (according to Google).

Main entrance of "Cathedral and Metropolitan Church of St Peter in York", better known as York Minster, was shut by the time I arrived. I walked counter-clockwise around the minster then saw some of the insides by experiencing evensong.
