Corner to Corner, Day 1: Epping to Haven House, Woodford to Maidenhead

Route adjustments worked well, taking us quieter ways. Glad that had minimal storage in form of 1 small triangular under saddle and an in-frame bag, as lightness aided skipping over rough ground. More of main arm of Grand Union Canal after Bull's Bridge now paved than 3 years ago. None was from Paddington in 1998 when bro-in-law and I first rode to Brixham "off-road". AND path beside M4 near Bray: previously narrow with nettles and bushes sweeping knees! Yummiest second breakfast at Grand Junction Cafe. Met interested and interesting people there and on the walk back after dinner in the evening, including Martin, friend of Timmy Mallet who is cycling round the coast!
